THE CREATORS RESERVE THE RIGHT TO CHANGE THE GAME WHILE IT IS RUNNING.
We publish changes on this page with a new date. Details are in section 13, “Changes”.
In force from 21 October 2026.
By pressing “Continue” the first time you sign in (before the start the button reads “Sign me up”), you accept these rules. If you are already playing, you accept them by continuing to play after they are published. If you are 14–17 years old, you accept them with the consent of a parent or guardian. If you are under 14, your parent or guardian accepts them.
The steps of the game are in How to play. How we protect your data is in the Privacy Policy. We use Meta Pixel to measure our ads, only if you accept the cookies.
1. Organizer
The organizer of the “QR Hunt” game (hunt.bansko.be) of bansko.be (the Bansko Community) is VIEM-STROY OOD (ЕИК 101699006, VAT No. BG101699006; registered office: 3 Petko R. Slaveykov Street, 2770 Bansko; support@bansko.be).
“We” in these rules means the organizer. The “Creators” of the game are the organizer and the team that makes and runs the game on its behalf.
The game is a separate site from bansko.be. Your bansko.be profile is used to sign in. We write to the email address in it when needed — for example if you win, or if you asked for an email when the game starts (section 3). Check that the email address in your bansko.be profile is correct.
2. The game in brief
There are plaques with a QR code around Bansko. A player finds them, scans them on the spot with their phone and collects points. You get points only if your phone is next to the plaque.
Terms used in these rules:
- Place — a point in Bansko with one or more plaques. In the game, places are listed under “Places”.
- Plaque — a plaque with a QR code of the game. “Code” and “plaque” mean the same thing in the game: each plaque has one QR code. Golden codes are described separately (section 7, “Golden codes”).
- Marker — the point of the place from which the radius is measured. Radius — how close to the marker the phone must be.
- Campaign — the period during which the game is played for prizes (section 3).
- Start — the beginning of the campaign: Sunday, 18 October 2026, 15:00 Bulgarian time (section 3).
- Game team — the people who make and run the game, including those with access to the management panel.
3. Campaign period
The campaign with prizes runs from Sunday, 18 October 2026, 15:00, to Thursday, 19 November 2026, 15:00, Bulgarian time. The game also calculates the age categories as of that date.
Before the start
The game is open even before the start, but it does not give points.
- You can sign in with bansko.be, choose a leaderboard name and enter your date of birth (section 6). This way you keep your name before someone else takes it.
- By doing so you join the list of hunters and get a sequence number in the order of sign-up: “Hunter #1”, “Hunter #2” and so on. The number does not give points and is not a place on the leaderboard.
- Scanning before the start does not give points. The game shows how much time is left until the start.
- The game team places and activates the plaques before the start as well.
- If you wish, we will write to your bansko.be email address when the game begins. This is optional and you can withdraw at any time. Details are in the Privacy Policy, section 10.
Only the points collected from the start to the end of the campaign count for the prizes. After the end of the campaign, scanning does not give points: the game shows “The hunt ended on 19 November at 15:00. The leaderboard is frozen.” The leaderboard and the Hall of Fame stay visible but no longer change. The game may keep running after the end.
4. Who can take part
- Anyone with a bansko.be profile.
- One person plays with one profile — their own. Do not play with someone else’s profile and do not give yours to anyone else. Do not play with a parent’s profile either: the category is calculated from the player’s date of birth.
- Under 18, you play with the consent of a parent or guardian.
- Under 14, you play only with the consent of a parent or guardian and with their involvement: they decide whether the child plays and are with the child outdoors. The child plays with their own bansko.be profile, and the child’s date of birth is entered in the game. The bansko.be policy (section 10) says the site is not aimed at children under 16 and that data of a child collected without a parent’s consent is deleted: that is why a child’s profile is created only by the parent or with their consent (bansko.be/privacy (opens in a new tab)).
These are the organizer’s rules. The game does not verify age. If we find out that a player under 18 is playing without the consent of a parent or guardian, we remove the profile from the leaderboard and the prizes and ask for consent. If there is no consent, we delete the profile. If the player signs in again with bansko.be, the game creates a new profile; we remove that one from the leaderboard and the prizes as well.
The following do not take part in the leaderboards and the prizes:
- the game team, including people with access to the management panel;
- the people who make and install the plaques, and the volunteers (see below);
- test profiles.
They may scan. Profiles with access to the panel are left out of the leaderboards automatically, and we remove the others manually.
Employees of Bansko Municipality may take part and win like everyone else.
Volunteers
- Who they are. A volunteer is an adult player to whom the organizer has given this role and who has a date of birth on record. A volunteer is not an administrator and has no access to the management panel.
- What they do. They suggest places for plaques: a position (from the GPS at the spot itself or picked on the map), a photo, a hint (10 to 300 characters), optionally a short description of the area, and a note to the team. The hint and the description are written by the volunteer, and a person from the team accepts or edits them; the radius is set by the organizer. If the organizer gives them plaques for an approved place, the volunteer sticks them up and activates them on site.
- The organizer decides. Every suggestion is reviewed by a person. Approval is not promised. If a suggestion is declined, the volunteer sees the reason — for example private property, a dangerous spot, a school or playground, or outside the municipality. A place goes live in the game when it is approved, has codes and its plaque is activated. The organizer may add new places during the campaign too (section 13).
- Outside the prizes. Volunteers do not take part in the leaderboards and the prizes — just like the people who make and install the plaques. They may scan. A player stays outside the prizes even after their role is withdrawn.
- Conditions for suggestions. A public place that can be reached freely and safely, away from the roadway. Not on private property without the owner’s consent. Not at a school or playground. Only within the territory of Bansko Municipality (section 7).
- The photo. Photograph only the place of the plaque: no people or faces, especially children, no registration plates and no private property. The photo is yours. By uploading it, you give the organizer a free, non-exclusive right to show it in the game as part of the hint for as long as we keep it (see the Privacy Policy, section 7). The organizer may shrink it but does not use it outside the game. An approved photo is shown to players as part of the hint when it unlocks (section 7). Before upload, the browser shrinks it and strips its metadata.
- Review. A person from the team reads every suggestion, checks the photo for faces and registration plates, and approves or edits it before publication. The area in the public description comes from reverse geocoding with OpenStreetMap Nominatim: the coordinates of the suggested place are sent there.
- Data. What we keep about volunteers, for how long and to whom we give it is in the Privacy Policy, sections 2, 5, 6 and 7.
- Withdrawal. The organizer may withdraw the role at any time. Pending suggestions are then rejected automatically.
- Safety. Section 12 applies to volunteers too: do not enter private property or dangerous places to stick up a plaque.
5. Participation is free
You do not pay or buy anything to play or to win. A hint is bought only with points from the game, not with money (section 7). Mobile data is paid for under your plan with your mobile operator.
QR Hunt is not a game of chance within the meaning of the Bulgarian Gambling Act. Participation is entirely free – no fee is paid, no stake is placed and no purchase of goods or services is required. Prizes are not drawn and are not decided by chance: the players with the most points in the ranking of their category win, points collected by finding and scanning the plaques around Bansko.
6. Leaderboard name and date of birth
- On your first sign-in you choose a leaderboard name and enter your date of birth (day, month and year). Each of the two only once. You can also do this before the start (section 3).
- The name is 3 to 20 characters: Bulgarian or Latin letters without accents, digits, space, _ - . It starts with a letter. It cannot repeat a name that is already taken.
- The leaderboard name may be seen publicly (section 10). Do not put your real name, email or phone number in it.
- Offensive names and names that pose as the organizer, the Bansko Community, the team or another person are forbidden.
- The name does not prove who you are. For the prizes, your bansko.be profile and your identity document count.
- The date of birth must be true and must be yours. Your age category depends on it (section 11). It is entered once and you cannot change it in the game. If you make a mistake, write to us: the correction is made by an administrator, with a reason, and is recorded in a log. A player who entered only a year is asked for the full date at the next sign-in.
7. How points are earned
- Only a plaque scanned on the spot with your own phone gives points.
- A scan counts if:
- the game has started — from 15:00 on 18 October 2026 (section 3);
- the code is from the game and the plaque is active;
- you do not yet have the points from this plaque;
- the phone is within the radius of the place;
- the GPS error the phone reports is not larger than the radius (for example, with a 50 m radius — up to ±50 m);
- the phone is within the territory of Bansko Municipality (below).
- Each plaque gives points once per player, except golden codes (below). Every player can collect every plaque.
- A scan saved on the phone without a connection (see “How to play”) earns points from the moment it reaches the server, by the server’s time, as every scan does. That time also decides ties and the “+2 together” bonus (section 7): friends who scanned together offline may miss it if their phones send the scans more than 15 minutes apart.
- If we replace a plaque, the new one is the same plaque. Whoever already has the points from the old one does not get them again.
- We decide how many points a plaque gives. A change in points applies only to later scans. Points already given do not change.
- The organizer may start a “happy hour” from its dashboard: at once or from a set time. It lasts 15 to 240 minutes, and the points from scanned plaques and golden codes are multiplied by a number from ×2 to ×5. The organizer may stop it early. It is announced in the game (a band in “Home” with the multiplier and the end time) and, if the organizer chooses, with a notification only to adult players (18+ by date of birth): at most one such notification per hour and none between 22:00 and 08:00. The happy hour applies to all players. Only the points of the scanned plaque or golden code are multiplied, not the “+2 together” bonus. The server’s time when the scan reaches it decides (see above for scans made offline).
- Notifications bonus. Once per player: +33 points if you turn on notifications in the game during the hunt (after the start and before the end). A player who had already turned them on gets it once too. Turning notifications off never takes the points away; turning them on again or on another device gives nothing. The organizer may stop giving new bonuses; bonuses already given stay. On iPhone, notifications need the game added to the home screen (see the guide in the game). The history shows “Notifications · +33”.
- Against abuse: at most one attempt every 3 seconds and a reserve of 30 failed attempts, which refills by one attempt every 2 minutes. While the reserve is empty, no scan goes through.
- A scan that the game has not counted gives no points — for example with weak GPS. We do not add points manually. If you think the game is wrong, write to us.
- Adult players may see a partner’s logo for a few seconds while the scan is being checked. Points do not depend on it. Players up to and including 17 never see this logo. The “Kindly supported by” strip on the home page and on “Prizes” is seen by everyone, and nothing is counted for it. The logo while a scan is checked is shown only to signed-in adult players. The organizer may limit how many times a day each partner’s scan logo is shown and how many such logos one player sees per day.
- At some places a child (up to 17 inclusive) sees, after scanning, a short fact about the place (“Did you know?”) instead of the advertisement adults see. Points do not depend on it. Nothing is stored for the fact.
Golden codes
- At the venues of the game’s sponsor there may be golden codes. A golden code gives a fixed number of points, once per player per place per Sofia day, however many golden codes there are there. The day resets at 00:00 (Europe/Sofia): after midnight the same code gives points again.
- The location check is the same as for plaques: the phone must be within the radius, the GPS error must not be larger than the radius, and you must be within the territory of Bansko Municipality.
- A golden code gives points only for scans after it was introduced. Points already given do not change.
- The happy hour also applies to golden points, under the same conditions as for plaques. The “+2 together” bonus does not apply to them. Golden scans made before 21 October 2026 are not corrected.
- The organizer turns a golden code on and off at a place and sets its points from the dashboard. A change applies to later scans. Points already given stay.
- Golden places are not part of the plaque count, the progress or the hints. They are in the radar while they are available to you today, only as “Golden code · +N pts”, without the name; once you have taken the day’s points at the place, the radar does not show it and does not lead you to it until 00:00 (Europe/Sofia). They are the sponsor’s venues, open to the public, but they are not listed in “Home” and the map in “Hunt” does not show them: you reach them with the radar.
- If you already scanned the golden code today, the game says “You have already scanned it today. Again after 00:00.” Such a refusal does not count as a failed attempt.
Territory
- The game is played only within the territory of Bansko Municipality. Scans and the radar outside it are refused. A refusal outside the municipality does not keep your coordinates (see the Privacy Policy, sections 2 and 9).
- A place is accepted only if its whole radius is inside the municipality, with a 100 m margin to the boundary. That is why a scan within a plaque’s radius is not refused as “outside the municipality”.
- The municipality boundary is based on data from © OpenStreetMap contributors, licence ODbL 1.0 (osm.org/copyright). It is simplified: in the mountains it may differ from the real one by up to about 100 m, and the settlements are not affected. Up to 100 m from the line counts as “inside”. The organizer accepts this OpenStreetMap outline (relation 1978202, the same data the game uses) as the territory of the municipality.
- When you are “too far”, the game shows only a rough band, not metres. The exact distance, rounded to 10 m, stays in the database for checking against fraud.
Radar and hints
- The radar is an optional aid. “Where is it?” switches on following (it runs until you press “Where is it?” again or log out) and tells you in one word how close you are to the nearest plaque you have not yet collected and, when you are far away, which direction it is in. The radar does not give points and is not proof that a scan will go through: the scan checks again with a new position. The radar position is not recorded (Privacy Policy, section 9). While the radar follows you, the phone itself may show a notification on “Warm”, “Hot” or “Burning!”, only if notifications are on in the game: at most 6 an hour and none from 22:00 to 08:00. Nothing goes to the server.
- The words. “Warm” is within 150 m of the plaque’s zone, “Hot” within 100 m, “Burning!” within 40 m. Farther away: “Cool” within 300 m, “Cold” within 3 km and “Ice cold” beyond.
- The organizer can switch it on and off. The radar works only while the campaign is running. When it is switched off, the game works without it.
- Helper (optional). The Helper runs on the radar and warns you in one word when you get close to a plaque you have not yet collected. It is the same for every player of an allowed age and gives no points.
- It works only while the game is open on your phone.
- It gives only the word “Warm”, “Hot” or “Burning!”: no direction, distance or name of a place.
- At most one notification for each of the three levels of each plaque and at most 6 notifications per hour. After “Burning!” there is a pause of 10 minutes. It does not notify about plaques you have collected.
- It works only while the campaign is running and only within the territory of Bansko Municipality.
- Under 14 it is not available. From 14 to 17 there are no notifications from 22:00 to 08:00 and a session lasts up to 30 minutes.
- The Helper’s position is not recorded (Privacy Policy, section 9).
- Map (optional). The map in “Hunt” shows the answers of the radar and the helper on the map of Bansko: it draws only your own trail and the arrows with the rough direction where you asked. Collected plaques are not shown on the map. It does not show where the plaques are, nor the golden places. It gives no points and is no proof that a scan will succeed. The trail stays only on your phone (Privacy Policy, section 8).
- Starter plaque. The organizer picks one plaque. While you have no successful scan, in “Home” you see a tile for it with its points (without the hint) and a button that opens its spot in Google Maps outside the game. This way you see how hard it is. After your first scan the tile is hidden.
- Notifications from the server. If you turned them on, the game may send you a notification at the start, “Someone passed you” (at most once a day) and in the last 24 hours. If the organizer has turned them on, you also get a crown notification on every change in the top three of your category — when you enter, when you drop out and when your metal changes (up or down) — at most one per day for crowns. A crown notification goes to everyone who has notifications on (a subscription with at least one topic), not only to those who chose the “leaderboard” topic; only “Someone passed you” belongs to the “leaderboard” topic and is not sent if you did not choose that topic (by default only “start” is on) or turned it off. Personal notifications (“Someone passed you” and the crown ones) are skipped from 22:00 to 08:00 for adults, and players under 18 by date of birth do not get them from 19:00 to 08:00. A skipped notification is not sent later. The notifications at the start and in the last 24 hours go out at 15:00 and are not delayed. The organizer may also send a separate notification about the game by hand, under the “Hunt start” topic: only to adult players (by date of birth) or to everyone who turned this topic on. Such a notification is not sent from 22:00 to 08:00; one to everyone, children under 18 included, is not sent from 19:00 to 08:00 either — then the send is refused, not postponed. The organizer may also send such a notification to one chosen player only (found through a name search): it goes only to that player’s subscriptions that have at least one topic switched on, whatever the topics; it is not sent from 22:00 to 08:00, and to a minor (under 18 by date of birth; no date of birth counts as a minor) not from 19:00 to 08:00 either. The send (recipient, title and text) is recorded in the team’s action journal (Privacy Policy, section 7).
- Hints are locked. The hint for the exact place of the plaque (and its photo, if there is one) is visible only when one of these two conditions is met: you bought it in the radar; the hunt has ended. Places without a hint show no lock.
- A hint for points. A hint is bought in the radar when it says “Hot” or “Burning!” (within 100 m of the plaque’s zone). The price is 25% of the plaque’s points, rounded down, but at least 1 point. The game shows you the price before you confirm. The points are taken from your total, that is, from the points on the leaderboard. A hint is bought once per place: you do not pay a second time. If you do not have enough points, the hint cannot be bought. Without buying, the hint unlocks for everyone after the hunt ends. Once you collect a plaque at the place, a hint you bought disappears from its card until the hunt ends. When the radar is not on, a hint cannot be bought: it unlocks only after the end of the hunt. The organizer may change the percentage only by updating these rules.
- Fair play. The ban on faked GPS and on automated requests (section 8) applies to the radar too.
Friends and hunting together
- You add a friend in person, and adults also from the map (below). On “Home”, tap the people icon (“Friends”), then “Invite a friend”: the game shows your personal QR code, valid for 10 minutes. The person next to you scans it (“Scan a friend” or the phone camera) and confirms with “Yes”. There is no search by name. Show your code only to someone you can see.
- Invitation from the map (adults only). When the live map is open to players, an adult player can tap another hunter’s avatar and “Become a friend”. The other person sees your leaderboard name in the request and chooses “Accept” or “Decline”; by sending a request you agree that they see your name. A decline is not shown to the sender. The request is deleted when accepted, or 7 days after it was sent. Per hour you can send up to 10 requests. If you have both sent each other a request, you become friends at once.
- Up to 17, a friend is added only in person with the QR code, for example a child and a parent. A player up to 17 neither sends nor receives requests from the map and stays anonymous on it.
- Friends see only each other’s leaderboard name. They do not see your date of birth, category, points or scans. The live map, when it is open to players, shows no names to anyone, administrators included. If you tap a friend’s avatar, you see their name; if you tap the avatar of someone who is not your friend, you see only the “Become a friend” button.
- You can have up to 50 friends. Per hour you can create up to 20 codes and make up to 20 attempts to accept a code.
- “Remove” ends the friendship for both of you. The other player is not notified.
- “+2 together” bonus. If you and a friend scan the same plaque within 15 minutes of each other, each of you gets +2 points on top of the plaque’s points. A replaced plaque is the same plaque (section 7).
- The bonus is given at most once per plaque per person, however many friends scanned it.
- Whoever scanned first gets +2 when their friend scans the same plaque up to 15 minutes later. There is no bonus for older scans.
- The bonus is added only to an accepted scan that earns points.
- The bonus counts in your points and on the leaderboard. A bonus already given stays even if you later remove the friendship.
- The bonus is for different people hunting together on the spot. Befriending a second profile of your own or someone else’s profile is a violation (section 8, item 4).
- The bonus is only between players on the leaderboard. A scan by a team member, a volunteer or a player removed from the leaderboard (section 4) gives no bonus to anyone, and they get no bonus.
8. Fair play
It is forbidden to:
- fake your location — with a fake-GPS app, an emulator or in any other way, including to get across the municipality boundary or to mislead the radar;
- photograph or copy a QR code so that it can be scanned elsewhere, share QR codes, links to plaques or codes from “Your scans”, and use ones shared by others. A souvenir photo is fine, but without the QR code in the frame;
- use scripts, bots or other automated requests to the game;
- have more than one profile, play with someone else’s profile or give yours to someone else, including to get the “+2 together” bonus;
- choose an offensive name or a name that misleadingly suggests you are the organizer, the team or another person;
- damage, move, remove, cover or replace plaques, and stick up your own QR codes;
- look for and exploit bugs in the game. If you find a bug, tell us.
9. What we do in case of a violation
- The game checks every scan by itself. It shows the team signals of suspicious behaviour — for example an impossible speed between two plaques or many refusals in an hour.
- A signal is not a decision. A person from the team decides after checking the case. If we remove you from the leaderboard and the prizes, we will write to your bansko.be email address with what we decided and why, so that we also hear your side.
- In case of a violation we may:
- remove you from the leaderboard and the prizes;
- reset your leaderboard name — you then choose a new one, and the old one stays forbidden for everyone;
- switch off or replace a plaque;
- remove a “+2 together” bonus obtained through a violation;
- in the case of damaged or replaced plaques — report it to the police or other competent authorities.
- We do not delete points silently. If we remove a player from the leaderboard and the prizes, their scans and points remain so that the case can be checked again. If it turns out we made a mistake, we put them back on the leaderboard with all their points.
- A switched-off or replaced plaque does not take away the points of people who have already collected it.
- If a violation is discovered after you have received a prize, we may ask you to return it.
- If you think we made a mistake, write to us at support@bansko.be within 14 days of our email. State your leaderboard name and why you disagree. A person from the team reviews the case again and answers you within 14 days. This does not limit your right to go to court.
10. Leaderboards
The game has two leaderboards:
- “Leaderboard” — all players with at least one point, ordered by points, with the names they chose themselves. Only signed-in players can see it.
- “Hall of Fame” in the “Prizes” section — the top five of each age category, with the leaderboard name and points. The category there is based on date of birth (section 11). Anyone can see it, without signing in.
In both:
- only players with a chosen name and at least one point are shown;
- team members and players removed from the leaderboard and the prizes are not shown;
- real names, emails and dates of birth are not shown.
The two leaderboards are live and change until the end of the campaign. After that they are frozen. “Leaderboard” orders equal points in its own way, which does not decide the prizes. We determine the winners by the prize ranking — the order under section 11 as of the end of the campaign.
Crown. Only the first three in each age category hold a crown: gold (1st place), silver (2nd) and bronze (3rd). The order is the same as for the prizes: points, then who reached the total first, then who joined the game first. The crown shows next to the name in “Leaderboard”, on places 1 to 3 of the Hall of Fame in “Prizes” and, only to you, as a badge in “Home” (“Crown · place N”). A crown is not a prize: prizes follow the final ranking, as in section 11.
Crown on the live map. The first three in each adult category (“18–28”, “29–38”, “39–49” and “50+”) also carry a crown with the digit 1, 2 or 3 above their avatar on the live map, when it is open to players. It is seen by adult players who also show themselves on the map, and by administrators; you also see your own crown above yourself. When zoomed out (zoom below 15) only the 1st-place crown is shown. A player aged 17 or under gets no crown on the map and sees no crowns there. Only the place (1, 2 or 3) is sent to the map, with no name, points or category. “Leaderboard” does show names, though, so another player can link the crown on the map to your leaderboard name and to the approximate spot where you are right now. If you do not want that, do not turn on “Show me on the map”, or choose “Invisible”: then others do not see you on the map, nor your crown. There is no way to show yourself on the map without the crown.
11. Prizes
The prizes for places 1 to 5 in each age category are announced below and in the “Prizes” section of the game. Vouchers are in euro. Every change there is dated.
Age categories
Each player is in one category according to their age in completed years on the end date of the campaign.
| Category | Age in completed years |
|---|---|
| 0–17 | 0–17 |
| 18–28 | 18–28 |
| 29–38 | 29–38 |
| 39–49 | 39–49 |
| 50+ | 50 and over |
At 28 completed years you are still in “18–28”, and from 29 you are in “29–38”. At 38 completed years you are still in “29–38”, and from 39 you are in “39–49”. At 49 completed years you are still in “39–49”, and from 50 you are in “50+”. The game calculates it from the recorded date of birth: completed years on 19 November 2026. When a prize is collected, the date is checked against an identity document (section 11, item 7).
Prizes by category
| Place | 0–17 | 18–28 | 29–38 | 39–49 | 50+ |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | PlayStation 5 Pro | PlayStation 5 Pro + GTA VI | Bansko season ski pass | Brand-new Atomic Redster S9 FIS SL Icon (2027) skis | Spa weekend for two |
| 2 | Gaming headset or controller | 150 € voucher | 150 € voucher for skiing or sport | Ski boots (brand to be announced) | Dinner for two at the Zehtindzhieva House tavern with authentic Bansko dishes, in the old Bansko tradition, plus a visit to the Old Bansko exhibition. |
| 3 | Hoodie | Hoodie and thermos | Hoodie and thermos | Hoodie and thermos | Hoodie and thermos |
| 4 | T-shirt and cap | T-shirt and cap | T-shirt and cap | T-shirt and cap | T-shirt and cap |
| 5 | Cap and diploma | Cap and diploma | Cap and diploma | Cap and diploma | Cap and diploma |
Prizes are awarded by points within your age category: you compete only with the players in it. A player receives at most one prize.
How prizes are awarded
- Ranking. In each category we rank by points. If points are equal, the player who reached the total earlier comes first — by the time of the scan with which they reached it. When the total is reached with the “+2 together” bonus, the moment is the time of the scan that gave the bonus. Buying a hint also sets the moment: after it, the total is reached at the moment of the purchase. The same holds for the notifications bonus: when it is given (including when it is given once to a player who already had notifications on), the total is reached at the moment it is given. If that is also equal — the player who joined the game earlier.
- Threshold. If a minimum number of points is announced for a place, the prize for that place goes to the player in that place if they have at least that many points. If they do not, the place is left without a winner. For a place without an announced minimum, the prize goes to the player in that place. A prize does not move to another category.
- One prize per player. Each player receives at most one prize in the campaign — for the highest place in which they ranked.
- End. For the prizes, the ranking as of the closing time of the campaign counts: the points and scan times up to then. Scans after that do not move the prizes, even if the Hall of Fame in the game keeps changing.
- Announcement. On the day the campaign ends, a person from the team checks the ranking and we announce the winners by category in “Prizes” — with the leaderboard name and points. On the day of the announcement we write to each winner at the email address of their bansko.be profile.
- 14 days. The winner has 14 days from the announcement to collect the prize. If you are expecting an email from us, check your “Spam” folder too. If they do not collect it in time, the place is offered to the next player in the category who reaches the threshold and has no prize yet. They have 14 days from our email to them.
- Identity document. On collection, the winner shows an identity document — an ID card or a passport. The date of birth in it must be the same as the one recorded in the game. If it differs, the place passes to the next player in the category, and the player is ranked anew in the correct category by their points at the end of the campaign.
- Under 18. If on the day of collection the winner is under 18, the prize is collected by a parent or guardian — with their own ID card or passport and with a document of the child: an ID card, a passport or a birth certificate. A guardian also brings a document proving they are a guardian. A prize announced for adults only is not given to a player under 18 on the day of collection, even at a parent’s request.
- If the winner cannot come. The prize may be collected by a person with a notarised power of attorney from the winner.
- Handover record. A record is signed on collection.
- Prize conditions. Some prizes have their own conditions — for example to be in the winner’s name. We write them next to the prize in “Prizes”. If an announced prize is not available on the date of collection, we give the replacement announced in advance in “Prizes”.
- No cash. Prizes are not exchanged for money or for another prize, except for the announced replacement (item 11).
- Taxes. If tax is due on the prize, the organizer bears it: the organizer declares and pays it, and the winner receives the prize without deductions.
- Who does not take part — see section 4.
12. Liability and safety
- You play at your own risk. Follow the traffic rules, public order and the instructions of the authorities.
- Do not enter private property or places where access is forbidden or dangerous. If a plaque cannot be reached freely and safely, do not try. Write to us.
- Winter brings ice, snow and early darkness. In the mountains, do not leave the marked trails.
- A child under 14 plays only with a parent or guardian, who is responsible for them during the game.
- The game depends on your phone, the internet, GPS and bansko.be. We are not responsible for missed points when any of them does not work, when the game is temporarily stopped, or when a scan is not counted because of inaccurate GPS.
- We are not responsible for damage caused by failure to follow these rules or by the actions of other people.
- These rules do not limit liability that cannot be limited by law.
13. Changes
THE CREATORS RESERVE THE RIGHT TO CHANGE THE GAME WHILE IT IS RUNNING.
For example, we may:
- add, move, stop or remove places and plaques;
- replace plaques;
- change the radius of a place and the points of a plaque for later scans;
- switch the radar, the Helper and the map on, stop them or change them, and change when hints unlock, and their price only by updating these rules;
- stop the game temporarily, for example for maintenance;
- extend the campaign; the age categories then stay as of the originally announced end date;
- end the campaign early in case of force majeure, a decision of a state authority, or if continuing becomes impossible. The prizes are then given by the ranking as of the day of termination, to the players who reach the threshold;
- change these rules.
We publish changes on this page with a new “In force from” date. They apply from publication unless they state another date. For material changes — prizes, campaign period, points — we will also notify you in the game or by email. We keep the previous versions of the rules and provide them on request.
When something changes:
- the points already collected stay;
- after the start we do not move announced prizes between categories;
- if the change does not suit you, you can stop playing and ask us to delete your data.
14. Personal data
What data we collect and how we protect it is in the Privacy Policy.
15. Contact and disputes
- Questions, reports of damaged plaques and objections: support@bansko.be. We answer within 14 days.
- For matters these rules do not cover, Bulgarian law applies.
- We first try to settle a dispute by talking. If that fails, it is decided by the competent Bulgarian court.

- 18 October 2026 — scanning without internet: points count from the moment the scan reaches the server.
- 19 October 2026 — “happy hour”: the organizer may announce in advance, with a notification, a period in which the points from scanned plaques are multiplied.
- 19 October 2026 — “Leaderboard” shows all players with at least one point, not only the top 20.
- 19 October 2026 — hints for points; no notification for a new hint; a starter plaque in “Home” for a player with no scan.
- 19 October 2026 — golden codes at the sponsor’s venues (fixed points once per Sofia day, no happy hour or “+2 together”, the exact location of the venues is shown) and “Did you know?” for children at some places; collected plaques are not shown on the map.
- 19 October 2026 — the “happy hour” is started from the organizer’s dashboard (at once or from a set time, 15–240 minutes, ×2 to ×5, may be stopped early), shown in the game, and notified only to adult players (at most one per hour, not from 22:00 to 08:00); a one-time 33-point bonus for turning on notifications; crowns (gold, silver and bronze) for the first three in each category and personal notifications about changes in the top three; children under 18 get no personal notifications from 19:00 to 08:00.
- 20 October 2026 — manual notifications from the organizer: a separate notification about the game under the “Hunt start” topic, to adults or to everyone with the topic; not from 22:00 to 08:00, and to everyone not from 19:00 to 08:00 either.
- 20 October 2026 — golden places are no longer listed in “Home” and there is no button to Google Maps for them; golden codes work every day, and the radar still leads to them while they are available to you today.
- 20 October 2026 — manual notifications from the organizer: besides adults and everyone with the topic, also to one chosen player — only to that player’s subscriptions with at least one topic switched on, whatever the topics; not from 22:00 to 08:00, and to a minor (no date of birth counts as a minor) not from 19:00 to 08:00 either.
- 21 October 2026 — the happy hour also applies to the points of golden codes (“+2 together” still does not); until the hunt ends the player sees only “QR N” for places: no name, description or photo after a scan, no hint on a collected place, and in the radar golden places are “Golden code · +N pts” without the name; a crown with the digit 1–3 above the avatar of the first three in each adult category on the live map (no children; below zoom 15 only 1st place).
